Lauridsen:O magnum mysterium | Choral Works Elora Festival Singers, Noel Edison Naxos

The CamRate Summary:

PositivesPositives

The penultimate piece, Mid-Winter Songs, based on poems by Robert Graves, is a 5-movement work for chorus & piano (stunningly played by Leslie DeAth), and this beautiful collection of Renaissance-influenced choral pieces concludes with O magnum mysterium, based on a Christmas text, and given a tender and heartfelt lovely collection comes with full text of the pieces (including English translation), an insightful introduction by Byron Adams, and background on Noel Edison and the very impressive Elora Festival Singers.

NegativesNegatives

The Elora Festival Singers dont quite give me that tingle that says: Oh, husband and I were listening to a classical radio station in the car one evening when we caught O magnum mysterium playing. We are not classical music people really but we thought this was a beautiful piece of music and although we had pulled into our driveway we sat and listened to it to the end.
