Summit Photofix SP5 Standalone Negative Scanner

The CamRate Summary:

PositivesPositives

If you think you can use it to create good prints from your negatives and slides, youll be disappointed. However, if you use this in conjunction with a proper scanner, I think youll be very pleased. As and when I want to use a negative in earnest, I make a good scan with my 7200DPI device, which takes a very great deal longer.I find that using the SP5 in this way, means that I can use film but still get much of the convenience of digital.

NegativesNegatives

Picture quality was better than expected and fine for snaps and old family pics on slides.Great for colour slides, nice and clear and easy to use, but disappointing for colour negatives as there are no facilities to convert to a positive all seems good at first look, but then try looking for the manual. Or, even more usefully, have one included in the box so I can test the scanner! So, three stars - Im sure its a good product but, as it comes supplied, is NOT STAND-ALONE.Great for colour slides, nice and clear and easy to use, but disappointing for colour negatives as there are no facilities to convert to a positive picture.Bought the identical unbranded version on Amazon for half the price.
