CamRate Terms of Service

This is the Privacy & Cookies Policy (the ‘PCP’) of CamRate Ltd t/a ‘CamRate’ (‘CamRate’). This PCP describes the ways in which CamRate collects and uses information about you when you visit and/or use CamRate's rating mobile application called ‘CamRate’ (the ‘App’) via your Apple account. If you have any queries about this PCP, please contact CamRate using the contact details below.

  1. Who this PCP applies to: By using the App you are agreeing to be bound by this PCP in respect of the information collected about you. CamRate may change this PCP at any time. CamRate shall deem your continued use of the App as indicating your consent to such changes. This PCP applies to people who use the App and people who make complaints to us by email.

  1. People who contact or make complaints to CamRate by email: When CamRate receives complaints by email it shall file any relevant document and may retain details of the complainant, and other individuals identified in the complaint. CamRate will only use this information to process the complaint and to check on CamRate’s services and staff. CamRate shall retain information in relation to a complaint for 6 years after its closure, in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted on a ‘need to know’ basis.

  1. Information we collect from people who use the App: CamRate will collect the following information from you when you use the App:

    1. if you sign up to the App, we may collect your user name, your e-mail address, your password and device you are using together with your profile information for your user profile which may include your full name, a photo identifying you and other contact information such as postal address and telephone number;

    2. if you sign into the App through a social network that network may allow information about you and your contacts to be accessed by CamRate. For example, on Facebook or Twitter, your Facebook or Twitter ID, email address, information relating to your friends, profile picture, gender, language, geo-location or the device you are using may be used. However, you can change what information CamRate can access by changing your privacy features on such social networks;

    3. if you choose to allow information about your friends in your device contact list to be accessed by CamRate then CamRate will enter that contact list; and

    4. your IP address, MAC address or the internet browser which you are using when you use the App; and

    5. information collected by CamRate’s use of cookies and similar technologies is provided in paragraph 8 below and in the Table below at the bottom of this PCP.

  1. Metadata: Metadata is usually technical data that is associated with User Content. You may add Metadata to your Content including a hash tag (e.g., to mark keywords when you post a photo), location (e.g., to mark your location to a photo), comments or other data. This makes your User Content more searchable by others and more interactive. Your latitude and longitude will be stored with the photo and searchable (e.g., through the location feature) if your photo is made public by you in accordance with your privacy settings.

  1. Stopping us from using this information:If you do not want CamRate to collect and use this information you can use your browser settings and privacy settings in the App and on your social networks to prevent us collecting certain of the above information about you.   1. How CamRate uses collected information from people who use the App: CamRate uses the information it collects for its own business management purposes and also in order to provide the best service possible via the App. CamRate may use your information to:

    1. help you access your information after you sign in and remember information for future visits;

    2. facilitate the improvement of the App and your experience of the App and to develop and test the App;

    3. provide technical support in relation to user enquires, resolving disputes, collecting fees and troubleshooting;

    4. to monitor numbers of visitors, traffic and demographic patterns;

    5. prevent fraud or illegal activities

    6. to provide information about other products and services. From time to time CamRate may send you information about the App and other goods and services which CamRate think may be of interest to you. You can tell us to stop this at any time by sending an e-mail to; and

    7. share with third parties for the purposes as described in paragraph 6 below.

  1. Sharing information with third parties: CamRate will not pass your information to third party advertisers for them to market to you other than as described in this paragraph. CamRate may, subject to its obligations to comply with applicable data protection legislation, share your information with third parties including:

    1. CamRate’s online partners who may serve adverts within the App (please see further details on these adverts in paragraph 8 below). CamRate may share your anonymised IP address and MAC ID with its partners to ensure that the ads you receive are relevant to you;

    2. as part of the App your information (for example your name, profile picture or user ID) may be shared with other users and your social networks. You may also share elements of your participation in the App (e.g. displaying your geographical location to communicate with other users in similar locations) with other users and your social networks;

    3. in relation to the sale of some or all CamRate’s business, or its assets, to any third party, or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation, but CamRate will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected; in anonymised form with data aggregators and service providers as part of an analysis of user metrics or sales performance; or

    4. with law enforcement agencies in compliance with law enforcement.

  1. Cookies:

    1. What are Cookies?Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you use an App or visit a Website. CamRate’s use of cookies is detailed below. Session cookies enable you to move from page to page within websites, Facebook or Apps and any information you enter will be remembered but is deleted when you close your browser or after a short time. Persistent cookies allow us to remember your preferences and settings when you use the App in the future, in different browser sessions.

    2. Disabling Cookies:The use of the cookies described above improves the functionality of the App and the Website and your experience using them. If you do not want these cookies to be served on your device, you are able to disable them by changing the settings on your browser, or on your device. Please note that if you do decide to disable cookies you may not be able to access some of the App, some of the features of the App or the App may not function properly. By continuing to use the App, including using social networking media functionality, you consent to the relevant cookies being set on your device.

Our use of cookies: CamRate and third parties may place or read cookies on your device and use similar technologies such as beacons, pixels and local storage to collect information about you and how CamRate provides its App. This PCP is applicable only to the use of cookies by CamRate and does not cover the use of cookie by any third parties (including advertisers or Facebook). For example, Facebook will place cookies to maintain a secure login to the Facebook network, amongst other things. More details of Facebook’s cookies are available on its website.

    6. Device Identifiers: When you use a mobile device to access the App, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by CamRate. A device identifier may deliver information to us or to a third party partner about how you browse and use the App and may help us or others provide reports or personalized content and ads.

  1. Links to third party websites and third party adverts:CamRate cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other sites even if you access them using links from the App/Website, adverts in the App/Website or from adverts on a webpage when you are using the App/are on the Website. CamRate recommends that you check the policy of each site you visit and contact its owner or operator if you have any concerns or questions. In addition, if you link to the App from a third party site or via a social network (e.g. Twitter, Facebook), CamRate cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of the owners or operators of that third party site and recommend that you check the policy of that third party site and contact its owner or operator if you have any concerns or questions.

  1. Security:CamRate has implemented technology and policies to safeguard your privacy from unauthorised access and improper use. CamRate’s physical servers are operated by a dedicated third party service in the UK (1&1), although in future it may be operated by a cloud service provider either inside or outside of the UK. You may also change your account settings on Facebook to prevent both us and third parties seeing information in relation to you. CamRate deletes data we hold in relation to any visitor to the App if that user has not accessed the App in the previous 6 years.

  1. CamRate’s policy towards children:CamRate’s App is intended for anyone who is legally entitled to own a device that accesses the App and uses it. However, CamRate does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information in relation to children under the age of 13. If CamRate discovers it has collected personal data in relation to any children under 13 CamRate shall take reasonable steps to delete such information.
